I don’t know about you, but virtual museum visits haven’t convinced me so far. Nowadays, this form of art experience is very much in vogue and many cultural institutions compete to make their collections accessible to Internet users. But after several unsuccessful visits and walks through virtual corridors, I finally came across something very special!
I discovered that the collections of the Art Museum in Łódź can be explored in film form. The guide through this extraordinary collection is Zbigniew Libera, a Lodz-born artist and performer. The artist strolls through the museum, tells stories, stops at the individual exhibits and weaves various anecdotes into his narrative. You can guess that he spent a lot of time in MSŁ in his youth. The videos are part of a larger series called “Guide to Art“, in which the artist talks about selected artists and phenomena of 20th-century art. Be warned, this can be addictive!
